Fantastic news this week that Arthur Pepper will be heading to Japan, to be translated and published within the next 18 months. It seems like a long time, but there is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes at the publishing houses – sales, marketing, PR, edits, design, etc. It’s truly fascinating to be part of it.
Japan takes the total number of translations for the book up to 10 countries. When I wrote Arthur, at my kitchen table, I thought the book was so English (and very Northern at that) that it might be taken on by an English publisher – and I had no thoughts beyond that. However, publishers across the globe have taken Arthur’s story to their hearts. The experience of love, marriage, family and bereavement are universal and connect us all, wherever we live.
It feels very special that Arthur’s story will be shared so widely.
